Process to get bike from Sydney to Christchurch (airfreight)

My process to import bike (BMW R1200GS) from Sydney (Australia) to Christchurch (New Zealand) by airfreight (December 2013):

Broken down in southern Australia

Due to mechanical problems with the bike I have been forced to stop for one week in southern Australia.
Luckily I got help from a fellow bike rider, Andrew, who I met in middle of Asia around one year ago!

Problem in a bike was that my rear wheel was moving sideways quite much. It was not a bearing failure as I first thought, instead it was a worn out flange (part which holds rear wheel). I guess heavy load and tough, corrugated roads took it´s toll with my bike.
In any case, bike was not in rideable condition so we towed it to a shop here in Melbourne. Continue reading

Easter holiday in Germany

I flew to Germany for my Easter holiday.
Naturally I could not stay put so I went to Ljubljana, Croatia and Venice during this holiday.
I have passed Ljubljana several times, so this time I spent one night over there. Would be interesting to visit this city in summer time.
I thought that Croatia would have been warm at this time of the year, but I was wrong… I saw some snow on the shore of Mediterranean sea! Continue reading
